Add some text, and maybe your polls will show up after the jump.

Interesting... I feel like I'll get better results this way. Maybe I'll keep it this way this one time.

To clarify:
- '73 911 RS, specifically
- 959 was an easy pick
- '72 914/6, specifically

It does take up a lot of FP real estate, though.

73 RS? Yep.
959? Damn F'in Skippy.
914/6? Over a Cayman R? hmmm... Nope, can't do it.

Not sure what you mean. I was referring to taking up lots of real estate on the Oppo main page. Once you click through, it doesn't matter how much space the post takes up.

You goofed. The answer to all three should be 959, but it's not an option on two of the three polls.

I assumed no "R" cars would be allowed in the last group.
Anyway, I can't help it ... The 914/6 will always be one of my favorite Porsches, one of the most dynamically brilliant cars they've ever created.
I do LOVE the Cayman, though. If I were to choose a new Porsche, that'd be the one.

928 for me.

hmmm... I could put it in, but one could make a convincing argument that it's supercar and/or a racecar. And then I'd have to put in the 550, 906, 908, 910...

I guess I was referring to Oppo being the "back page" to Jalopnik's "front page" are there sub-oppos?
ttyymmnn
> 472CID
01/31/2014 at 12:25 | 0 |
I think the general terminology is "Jalopnik FP" when referring to that place. I've also heard "Oppo main page." But generally, I think that when somebody says "FP" they're referring to the Oppo front page. We usually don't discuss the Jalopnik FP around here very much. It's a very silly place.

Well, I'd still rather a Cayman S than a 914. But I'm a bit of technogeek (though not so much that I would choose the 918 over the ultimate Porsche ever, the 959).

This is a bit confusing: " 911 Slantnose The 70s roadracing superstar"
935 had kind of a slant nose but it was available only as a race car. Factory used them between '76 and '78 but they were used a lot longer by other team. Usually they aren't called slant noses.
The real slant nose was extremely expensive option for Turbo/930 and it was available from '86. It had pop-up headlight but 935 had headlights mounted where the normal 911 had a bumper (some where completely without headlights).
Huge number of race/street replicas have been made since they became famous.

For the purpose of this poll I'd say the slantnose is the original 911 with a different front end. I just felt like the original 911 choice needed some breaking up.

Pictures of the car along with the code number would help...I refuse to google image search for 20 separate cars...in that case I choose panamera *pouts in the corner*

I actually like that Panamera Sport Turismo concept. I'll take that one. And a slant-nose and a 959. Thanks!

As much as I want to experience the Carrera GT, I would NEVER own one now because you would endlessly get: "you know that's the most dangerous car in the world right? It killed Paul Walker.. How dare you endanger yourself and everyone else on the road.." Thanks Media

If you're going to be on Oppo you ought to learn your Porsches, I'm pretty sure it's in the rules.

Damn, where's all 968 love?
It has the creature comforts and popup headlights from the 928, the handling of the 944, and a torquey 3.0 Slant 4 that made more power than the 944 Turbo but without the turbo lag.

Ahhh... Fantastic looking, and more reliable than the 944. Plus 6-speed.
... which is something the owners seem to know, judging by how high the prices still are (around here, a 100k miles nice example will cost you close to 18-20k$)

-930 SC 3.2, ideally in dark blue over black. No whaletail.
-959 (is this even a question?)
-Cayman. Ideally 2.9 manual in dark blue over grey.

All you people wanting the 959 in your garage. It's every Porsche technical difficulty rolled into one car. Drive it, fine, but don't try living with it.
